Framing Checklist Before Drywall

Inspect backing, openings, services, fire blocking and wall alignment before boarding hides the framing.

Check layout and alignment

Confirm wall locations, door openings, ceiling elevations and critical dimensions against current drawings. Correct bowed studs and incomplete connections before board installation.

Confirm backing

Cabinets, handrails, televisions, washroom accessories and wall-mounted equipment need planned backing. Photograph locations before they are concealed.

Coordinate services and assemblies

Verify plumbing, electrical, mechanical and sprinkler rough-ins, required inspections, insulation, fire stopping and acoustic sealant. Boarding should begin only after the close-in checklist is signed off.
